Iranian Spokesperson: Failure to Stop Attacks Could Spark Regional Retaliation

Date:

The Iranian military has issued a stern warning to Muslim nations in the Middle East, urging them to prevent the United States and Israel from attacking Iran’s civil energy infrastructure, or risk facing similar retaliatory actions in the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said that regional governments are expected to immediately alert Washington and Tel Aviv to halt what he described as inhumane operations. Failing to do so, he warned, could escalate the conflict and compel Iran to respond in kind.

“Iran has so far exercised restraint and strategic patience, despite possessing advanced intelligence and strike capabilities,” Zolfaghari said in a statement. “We have deliberately held back out of respect for the Muslim populations in neighbouring countries.”

He further claimed that ongoing strikes by the US and Israel have yielded no military advantage, instead endangering innocent civilians, including women and children. According to Zolfaghari, attacks have intensified recently, targeting fuel facilities, energy infrastructure, and critical public service centres vital to the Iranian population.

The spokesperson also cautioned about potential global market repercussions if the conflict continues to escalate. “If the world is willing to see oil prices surpass US$200 per barrel, so be it,” he said.

In related developments, the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company reported that missile strikes by the US and Israel targeted fuel depots in Tehran and Alborz provinces late on Saturday, as part of broader attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the strikes on fuel storage facilities on platform X as a “deliberate chemical war” against the Iranian people. He added that these attacks signal a new, more dangerous phase in the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, following the targeting of the country’s energy infrastructure.
