A total of 1,809,185 voters, representing 67.44 per cent of more than 2.6 million registered voters, had cast their ballots in the 16th Johor State Election as of 5pm today.
The Election Commission (EC), in a post on Facebook, said the Sri Medan state constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 77.2 per cent.
It was followed by Semarang with 76.8 per cent and Sedili with 74.3 per cent, making the three constituencies the top performers in terms of voter participation.
Meanwhile, the lowest voter turnout was recorded in Bekok at 58.9 per cent, followed by Stulang at 60.5 per cent and Perling at 60.6 per cent.
The turnout figure showed an increase compared with the same period during the 15th Johor State Election, when 53.13 per cent or 1,367,909 out of more than 2.57 million voters had cast their ballots.
The EC said a total of 1,076 polling centres across Johor would close at exactly 6pm today.
The higher voter participation reflects continued public engagement in the state election, with voters turning up throughout the day to fulfil their responsibility in determining the state’s future leadership.
