The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has warned that Thai vehicles entering Malaysia without a valid International Circulation Permit (ICP) and travelling more than two kilometres from the border will be seized.
JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli issued the reminder ahead of the Aidilfitri period, when an influx of vehicles from Thailand is expected. He stressed that drivers must obtain the ICP at JPJ enforcement stations located at border entry points.
“The ICP is valid for 90 days and is strictly for private vehicles. Any use for business or other purposes is an offence,” he said during the Perlis JPJ Jalinan Ramadan Ukhuwah event.
Aedy Fadly also warned that vehicles with unpaid summonses will not be granted an ICP, and those already in the country with outstanding fines will be confiscated.
JPJ will also intensify checks under this year’s Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri, set to start on March 13 and run for two weeks. Further details of the operation will be revealed in an upcoming press conference.
