Kelantan PKR Dismisses Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Support For PM Anwar

Date:

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in Kelantan has assured that all 14 divisional chiefs in the state, together with their committee members, will remain loyal to party president Anwar Ibrahim and will not defect to Parti Bersama Malaysia.

In a statement, Kelantan PKR secretary Rahim Hasan said that based on his knowledge, no division leaders or committee members from the state had joined Bersama, the party recently taken over by former PKR leaders Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

“The party will not shake our loyalty to PKR,” he said.

Rahim added that Kelantan PKR is currently focused on strengthening its machinery at all levels as preparations begin for the next general election.

His remarks come amid a growing wave of resignations involving grassroots leaders and party members who later joined Bersama.

Previously, reports stated that nearly 2,000 PKR members in Johor had left the party to join Bersama’s state chapter, which has since formed a pro-tem committee comprising several former PKR state and division leaders, including former Tiram assemblyman S Gopalakrishnan.

In a separate development, 19 committee members from Pandan PKR Youth, including deputy chief Haqimi Zamri, also resigned from the party and joined Bersama.
