DAP has acknowledged that its crushing defeat in the Sabah state election represents a “serious crisis of confidence” in both the party and the broader Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
Party secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said the results sent a “strong and unmistakable message” from voters, adding that campaign teams across the state had repeatedly encountered widespread dissatisfaction.
Following an emergency meeting of the party’s central executive committee (CEC) last night, Loke said DAP would consolidate all voter feedback and work closely with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to fast-track key reforms over the next six months.
He also revealed that Sabah DAP had informed the CEC it will decline all positions in the state government, including nominated assembly seats.
“Sabah DAP leaders will continue serving the people actively and work to rebuild public trust,” he said.
Saturday’s election saw DAP lose all eight seats it contested, including strongholds such as Likas, Kapayan, Elopura, Luyang, Tanjong Papat and Sri Tanjong—all of which were won by Warisan.
Loke previously took full responsibility for the defeat and said the leadership would learn from the setback as the party moves forward.
