Malaysia and China Extend Visa-Free Travel: Malaysians Can Stay Up to 90 Days

Date:

Starting this Thursday, Malaysian citizens can enjoy visa-free entry to China for short-term visits, allowing stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia announced that under the China-Malaysia Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption, holders of Malaysian and Chinese passports may enter, exit, or transit each other’s countries without a visa. Each visit permits a stay of up to 30 days.

This visa-free access covers various purposes, including tourism, family visits, business, cultural exchanges, private affairs, medical treatment, and travel as crew members.

However, travelers planning to stay longer than 30 days, or those intending to work, study, engage in media activities, or participate in other activities requiring prior approval, must apply for the appropriate visa before entering China.

The extension of this visa exemption agreement was formalized during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Kuala Lumpur in April, further strengthening ties between the two nations.
