Malaysians can now check their eligibility for the RON95 fuel subsidy under the BUDI Madani (BUDI95) initiative, launched by the Ministry of Finance, starting from 9 a.m. today.
The official portal, www.budimadani.gov.my, is now live for users to view their eligibility profile and monthly subsidy balance.
Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stated that the verification process is automatic, using the national identity card (MyKad), with no need for new registration. Users simply need to scan their MyKad at fuel pumps for eligibility verification before making payment.
Key Details of BUDI95:
- The RON95 subsidy targets Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above with an active driving license.
- Subsidy eligibility is capped at 300 liters per month, based on findings from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
- Subsidized price is set at RM1.99 per liter, while the market price without subsidy is approximately RM2.60 per liter.
- Usage beyond the quota will be charged at prevailing market rates.
- E-hailing drivers can apply for additional quota through the same portal.
- Payments can be made via cash, credit/debit card, or e-wallet.
- Transaction receipts will display both the government subsidy amount and the actual amount paid by the user.
The government expects annual savings of RM2.5 billion to RM4 billion through the removal of bulk subsidies, with the funds redirected to targeted aid programs such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA).
