Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his deepest condolences to the families affected by the recent violent attack in Sydney, while wishing a speedy and full recovery to those injured.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish those injured a swift and full recovery,” he wrote on Facebook.
Anwar said he was deeply disturbed by the attack, which claimed innocent lives and left many others injured, and condemned the act in the strongest terms.
“There can be no justification for violence against civilians, particularly attacks targeting individuals based on race or religion. Such acts have no place in any faith or belief,” he added.
The prime minister affirmed Malaysia’s solidarity with the people and government of Australia during this difficult time, supporting all efforts to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
According to Xinhua, New South Wales Premier Chris Minns reported that at least 12 people were killed in the shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Saturday night. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the scenes as “shocking,” while Minns called the incident deeply distressing.
