Mas Ermieyati Rebukes Melaka Assemblyman Over ‘Dog Sticker’ Post On State Exco

Date:

Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin has criticised Sungai Udang assemblyman Dr Mohd Aleef Yusof for posting an edited image of a Melaka state executive councillor with a dog sticker placed over his face.

Mas Ermieyati said the Bersatu assemblyman’s action was inappropriate and did not reflect the conduct expected of a Muslim, Malay, or elected representative. She added that public office holders should uphold higher standards of decorum in their political communication.

“Out of all the stickers available, why choose that one? This is behaviour that does not reflect our values as Muslims and Malays,” she said in a Facebook post, stressing that elected representatives must act responsibly.

The post in question involved Melaka Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture exco Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, whose image was allegedly altered by Dr Aleef with a dog sticker over his face following a heated exchange during a Melaka state assembly sitting.

Dr Aleef reportedly claimed that Abdul Razak had failed to properly answer a supplementary question regarding the reopening of a floating market project, which had been shut for about a year.

He said the question posed was straightforward, asking when the project would resume operations, but alleged that the response given did not directly address the issue raised in the assembly.

Dr Aleef also criticised Abdul Razak for recording and uploading a video of the assembly commotion on social media, further fuelling tensions between both sides.

However, Abdul Razak, who is also the Telok Mas assemblyman, maintained in a TikTok response that he had in fact answered the question raised during the sitting, rejecting claims that he had avoided addressing the matter.
