The MADANI Adopted Village programme is not merely a symbolic initiative but a comprehensive government approach that is already producing encouraging results, says Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
He said the programme reflects strong cooperation among government agencies to ensure that benefits reach the people quickly and effectively.
“This Kampung Angkat MADANI programme is not just for show, not something where we put up signboards, take photos and then leave. It must create real impact for the people,” he said.
Mohamad stressed that the initiative follows a “whole-of-government” approach, involving multiple ministries, agencies and local leaders working together like a community gotong-royong effort.
“If roads are damaged, we repair them. If public facilities need upgrading, we take action. If youths need training or a village has agricultural potential, we develop it,” he said during the launch of Kampung Angkat MADANI and Sekolah Angkat MADANI at Kampung Guar Petai.
Under the programme, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) allocated RM500,000 for development and welfare projects in Kampung Guar Petai.
In addition, Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Menora received RM100,000 under the MADANI School Adopted initiative to improve infrastructure and educational facilities.
Among the projects implemented in the village are road resurfacing works, home repairs for dilapidated houses, drainage improvements, tree trimming, mosque beautification works and installation of solar street lights.
At the school level, upgrades include office and staff room facilities, as well as repair works for blocked student toilets and other maintenance improvements.
