The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 14 as polling day for the 16th Melaka state election.
EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said nomination day will be held on Oct 31, while early voting has been scheduled for Nov 10.
The campaign period will run for 14 days, beginning after the declaration of candidates on Oct 31 and ending at 11.59pm on Nov 13.
Ramlan announced the dates at a press conference today after chairing a special EC meeting on the Melaka state election.
He said applications for postal voting opened on Sept 23.
“For Category 1A, involving election workers, EC members and officers, police personnel, military personnel and media workers, the deadline to apply for postal voting is Oct 28.
“For Category 1B, involving Malaysian citizens residing overseas, and Category 1C, involving agencies or organisations, the application deadline is Oct 23,” he said.
