Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak returned to the court today for the first time since receiving a conditional pardon last week.
Najib arrived at the court complex at around 8.30am, having been brought from Kajang Prison under tight security.
The former Pekan MP was dressed in a light grey suit and white shirt as he was escorted into the court premises.
The High Court is hearing Najib’s application to stay the execution of his 15-year prison sentence and RM11.38 billion fine in connection with the misappropriation of RM2.3 billion belonging to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
According to the judiciary’s website, the application is being heard before Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin.
Najib’s legal team is expected to provide further updates at the court complex, with media attention also focused on any developments concerning his request to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
The court proceedings come after the Pardons Board granted Najib a conditional pardon last week, reducing his original prison term and fine.
