Negeri Sembilan Ruler Warns New Exco Members Against Power Abuse

Date:

Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has reminded newly appointed State Executive Council (Exco) members to uphold their responsibilities and avoid abusing their authority for personal, family or associates’ interests.

The ruler said such misconduct must not occur, particularly when making decisions involving government tenders or projects.

“Beta also remind you to carry out your duties and responsibilities with honesty, fairness and professionalism. Never misuse the power entrusted to you for personal gain, family or close associates, especially when deciding on the awarding of government tenders or projects,” Tuanku Muhriz said during the Negeri Sembilan Exco Appointment and Oath-Taking Ceremony at Istana Besar Seri Menanti today.

His Royal Highness stressed that the country needs leaders with strong principles and integrity to ensure government administration is carried out fairly and effectively.

Tuanku Muhriz said abuse of power and position could lead to injustice as well as weaken the implementation of policies designed for the benefit of the people.

The ruler added that public expectations towards the state government were high, with the people hoping for efficient, transparent and effective governance.

He urged the newly appointed Exco members to ensure every policy and development plan was implemented responsibly while prioritising the interests of the people.

Tuanku Muhriz also emphasised that leaders must demonstrate professionalism and accountability as they carry out the trust placed upon them by the public.
