The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into an individual over alleged bribery and abuse of power involving applications for residential land lots does not involve anyone in the Johor state administration, says state Housing and Local Government executive councillor Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.
Mohd Jafni said the probe also did not involve any Johor state executive councillors or state government officers.
“I do not want to comment further on the merits of the case, which is still under investigation, and will leave it entirely to the MACC and the legal process.
“To avoid any confusion, this investigation does not involve anyone in the Johor state administration, whether among the executive councillors or any Johor state government officers,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Mohd Jafni stressed that he would not compromise with anyone attempting to take advantage of the public, deceive people or abuse their position for personal gain in matters involving public housing.
He said the trust placed in the government to provide affordable homes should not be tarnished by individuals exploiting the difficulties faced by people seeking to own a home.
“Johor remains committed to achieving its target of completing 30,000 Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ) units by the end of 2026.
“So far, more than 21,000 housing units have been completed and handed over to Bangsa Johor,” he said.
He also urged members of the public to conduct all housing-related dealings through official channels and avoid making payments to individuals or parties demanding money in connection with housing applications.
“If any payment is requested, a report should immediately be made to the authorities.
“When it comes to public housing, trust must be protected. The people’s rights must never be traded,” he said.
