Nurul Izzah Anwar Slams Resignation Rumours As ‘Fake News’ And ‘Malicious Speculation’

Date:

Nurul Izzah Anwar has officially refuted widespread social media claims suggesting she has stepped down from her position as the Deputy President of PKR. The former Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament clarified that the allegations are entirely baseless and confirmed her ongoing commitment to the leadership role entrusted to her by the party membership.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, Nurul Izzah emphasised that she remains dedicated to her duties in accordance with party protocols and mandates. She noted that there have been no structural changes within the top leadership, effectively silencing the speculation that had been circulating online over the past few days.

The PKR leader expressed her gratitude for the public’s concern but urged Malaysians to remain vigilant against unverified information. She advised supporters and the general public to rely exclusively on official party communications to ensure they receive accurate and authentic updates regarding the organisation’s internal affairs.

The rumours regarding her supposed departure had gained significant traction on various social media platforms, sparking a wave of reactions and internal discussions among party members. The speculation appeared to catch many by surprise, given her recent ascension to the number two post in the party’s hierarchy.

The daughter of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim secured the Deputy President post for the 2025-2028 term during last year’s party elections. In a high-profile one-on-one contest, she successfully defeated the incumbent, Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli, to take over the key leadership mantle.
