PAS Calls For Jho Low’s Extradition To Malaysia Amid Reported US Pardon Talks

Date:

PAS has urged that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, be extradited back to Malaysia to face trial, amid reports that he may be considered for a pardon by United States President Donald Trump.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the case involving the fugitive financier has had a significant impact on Malaysia, particularly on the country’s economy, and must be dealt with through proper legal channels.

He said Malaysia has its own legal framework and is not bound by decisions made in the United States, stressing that the alleged offences linked to Jho Low have serious domestic implications.

Tuan Ibrahim added that the individual concerned should be brought back to Malaysia through existing international cooperation mechanisms, so that he can be formally charged and tried in court.

He emphasised that the focus should be on ensuring due legal process is followed, regardless of external developments, including any potential pardon decisions made abroad.

The remarks were made during a press conference after he officiated the PAS Pasir Mas divisional annual general meeting, which was also attended by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.

The issue resurfaced following media reports suggesting that Malaysia would maintain its position on Jho Low’s case, even if a pardon were granted by the US President.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously stated that any pardon decision by the United States would be an internal matter for that country.

However, he reiterated that Malaysia would continue to uphold its legal process in dealing with all matters involving Jho Low and would not deviate from established judicial procedures.
