PAS has decided on a single candidate to take over as chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN), following Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent resignation from the position, said the party’s Information Chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.
“Only one name has been chosen. At the central level, the decision has been made, but I am not sure about the process of submission as I am not part of the PN Supreme Council,” he said at a press conference on Thursday.
“I am confident that the name has already been conveyed to Tan Sri Muhyiddin for further action,” he added.
Earlier on Thursday, Ahmad Fadhli officiated the opening of Mydin Mart in Pasir Mas, accompanied by Mydin Managing Director Datuk Wira Dr Ameer Ali Mydin.
Ahmad Fadhli reiterated that while the candidate has been selected, he is uncertain about the exact submission process.
Previously, Sinar Harian reported on December 30 that Muhyiddin, President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), announced his resignation as PN chairman, effective January 1, 2026. The former Prime Minister confirmed his resignation in a Facebook post.
