The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have officially launched a probe into a series of controversial social media posts allegedly containing defamatory and baseless claims against the Johor royal institution, Islam, and local authorities. This legal action follows the emergence of viral content that has triggered widespread concern regarding public order and religious sensitivity within the country.
Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid, the Johor State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman, confirmed that the authorities are taking these posts seriously due to their potential to erode the faith of Muslims. In a statement released on Monday, he emphasised that such narratives do not only threaten spiritual integrity but also risk disrupting the harmony of the general public.
To ensure a comprehensive legal and theological approach, PDRM has coordinated with the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ). This collaboration aims to scrutinise the content through the lenses of Sharia law and Islamic creed, ensuring that any deviations from established teachings are handled strictly. The state government has maintained a firm stance, asserting that there will be no compromise for anyone spreading teachings that lead to the misguidance of the Muslim community.
The controversy stems from a TikTok account operating under the handle @ratunurputriratubalqis, where a woman made several extraordinary and heretical claims. In various video clips, she asserted that her physical form was being “borrowed” by angels and suggested she possessed a direct lineage to Prophet Muhammad SAW. One particularly provocative video depicted her holding the Al-Quran while claiming to be the reincarnated child of Adam and Eve.
Furthermore, the individual drew heavy criticism for claiming to be the spiritual teacher of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. In light of these events, Mohd Fared has urged the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified content. Citizens are advised to rely solely on official religious authorities for matters concerning Islamic doctrine to avoid falling victim to misinformation.
