PKR will take the concerns and criticism raised by its grassroots seriously, with the party set to review its communication and public information strategies to improve the way it engages with Malaysians.
PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said the feedback received during the party’s national congress would be used to strengthen its organisational machinery and improve its overall communication approach.
He said the volume of views raised by party members reflected the need for the leadership to examine areas that could be improved, particularly in communicating the government’s policies and achievements to the public.
“There has been a lot of criticism and many matters that we need to reflect on and consider to strengthen the machinery’s operations. This includes adjusting our communication and information strategies,” he said after visiting the media room at the national congress here.
Fahmi said the party leadership was adopting a humble approach by listening to its grassroots and remained open to making necessary changes based on their feedback.
One of the main concerns raised, he said, was the gap between the government’s performance at the macroeconomic level and the extent to which ordinary Malaysians could feel the benefits in their daily lives.
The Communications Minister said several measures were being considered to improve how government information and achievements are conveyed to the public.
He said details of the measures would be presented during the winding-up session of the congress tomorrow, with the party expected to outline its approach to addressing the concerns raised by members.
Fahmi, who is also Pakatan Harapan communications director, said the proposed improvements would include establishing a mechanism to identify issues that matter most to the public.
Those issues would then be channelled to the relevant parties for follow-up action, ensuring public concerns are not only identified but also addressed through the appropriate channels.
The move is expected to give PKR a more structured approach to understanding public sentiment while strengthening its communication machinery at both party and government levels.
