PKR Yet To Name Replacement For Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Amid Political Uncertainty

Date:

PKR has not identified any potential candidate to replace Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, following claims that he has lost the confidence of a majority of State Legislative Assembly members.

PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said discussions on the matter are still ongoing, stressing that any transition must be handled in accordance with both the Federal Constitution and Negeri Sembilan’s traditional Adat system.

He said the party remains respectful of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, and continues to support Aminuddin in leading the state administration for the time being.

Amirudin, however, clarified that deliberations over a possible successor have not been finalised as the situation involves complex constitutional and customary considerations unique to Negeri Sembilan’s governance structure.

He added that the issue also involves disputes relating to the role of the state’s traditional chieftains (Undang) and the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, which must be resolved before any decision on the Menteri Besar position can be confirmed.

“Matters concerning the Undang and the Yang di-Pertuan Besar must first be addressed through proper consultation before the status of the Menteri Besar can be finalised,” he said.

He emphasised that any resolution must be achieved through consensus involving all relevant parties, including the Undang, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the state government, in line with constitutional provisions and established customs.

The development comes after reports that 14 Barisan Nasional assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan had earlier expressed a loss of confidence in Aminuddin as Menteri Besar, further fuelling political uncertainty in the state.
