Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured Malaysians that RON95 petrol will continue to be priced at RM1.99 per litre under the Budi Madani programme, despite global oil market fluctuations triggered by escalating tensions in West Asia.
At a press conference, Anwar highlighted that careful energy management by the government, alongside Petronas’ proactive measures to secure adequate supply, has allowed the nation to maintain stable fuel costs.
He also pointed out that recent attacks on Iran and the expanding regional conflict have disrupted global energy supply routes, especially shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Reassuring the public, Anwar emphasised that Malaysia’s energy security remains strong and affirmed the government’s commitment to shielding households from sudden fuel price spikes.
