PM Anwar: Government Will Take Tough Action on School Safety After Deadly Stabbing

Date:

The government will take firm action to address discipline and safety issues in schools, including those linked to the use and influence of social media, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He stated that the Cabinet will hold a meeting soon to discuss the matter and implement actionable measures.

“We will hold a meeting on this issue. I have already commented on the schools involved, but looking at it more broadly, nearly all cases trace back to smartphones, social media, and apps. So perhaps today or tomorrow, I will convene the Cabinet to discuss this. The government must take firm action,” he said after attending the Ministry of Finance’s monthly assembly today.

He made the remarks when asked about the recent tragic incident in Selangor where a Form Three female student was fatally stabbed by a Form One male student at a local school.
