Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has affirmed that the government is committed to taking strict measures to curb the rising incidents of violence in schools and ensure the safety of students.
He revealed that the issue would be discussed in a Cabinet meeting scheduled for today or tomorrow, focusing on student discipline and overall school security. Speaking to the media after attending the monthly Finance Ministry assembly, Anwar noted that while some school-related problems had been addressed, many incidents are linked to students’ personal and family circumstances, as well as the widespread use of smartphones and social media applications.
“I have commented on this matter before, but upon closer examination, most cases are related to the students and their families, or issues with school regulations,” he said.
Highlighting the role of technology in these incidents, Anwar added, “Ultimately, almost all cases trace back to problems with smartphones and social media apps.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government remains committed to taking decisive action to tackle school violence and ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
