Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed authorities to take strict action against any party, local or foreign, found to be illegally taking over business operations or misusing licences and visas for commercial activities.
Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was raised by Anwar during the weekly Cabinet meeting, following complaints regarding foreigners allegedly controlling or operating local businesses through improper means.
He said the Prime Minister emphasised that enforcement must be carried out firmly against anyone who breaches regulations, including Malaysian citizens involved in licence or visa abuse linked to business activities.
Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, clarified that Anwar did not target any specific group or location when raising the issue.
He added that the Prime Minister was responding to general complaints received by the government and stressed that authorities should act strictly according to existing laws.
The government, he said, would leave it to enforcement agencies to investigate and take appropriate action based on established legal procedures.
