Investigation into businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, is ongoing, said Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail. He confirmed that authorities are continuously monitoring developments in the case and will take appropriate action as needed.
“The matter does not need to be discussed publicly because the investigation is still ongoing,” he said, responding to reporters at a press conference at Bukit Aman today.
Jho Low remains a wanted individual in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) corruption probe. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reportedly said Malaysia has yet to receive official confirmation regarding reports that Jho Low is residing in Shanghai, China, allegedly using a fake international passport.
The Prime Minister added that he would check with the Home Minister to obtain further details about the individual at the center of the 1MDB scandal.
According to media reports, Jho Low is living in the exclusive Green Hills area, driving luxury vehicles, and allegedly operating from an office in Shanghai’s Financial Centre, despite Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to secure his extradition. Reports also claim that he is now serving as a strategic advisor to the Chinese government.
