Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysia will allocate an additional RM100 million to assist the Palestinian people in Gaza, two years after the first allocation.
Speaking at the “Malaysia Stands with Gaza” peace rally today, Anwar said that the government had previously contributed RM100 million, bringing the total aid to RM200 million. He reaffirmed Malaysia’s unwavering support for Palestine and vowed to continue urging the international community to take action against Israel.
“This reflects the voice of the Malaysian people, not any single political party, race, or region. Together, we say no to brutality and injustice,” he said.
Anwar highlighted Malaysia’s past efforts to support Palestinians, including transporting them to Malaysia for medical treatment, with most returning home, while those who remain are provided education. He also called on businesses to step forward to ease the suffering of the people in Gaza, noting that previous aid shipments were often damaged or blocked by Israel.
The Prime Minister criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government for their continued attacks on Gaza, describing the use of hunger as a weapon as “insane” and questioning why Western countries remain silent.
“At 78, I have never seen such cruelty. They claim every child in Gaza is a member of Hamas, even two-year-olds. This is a sickness,” he said.
Anwar stressed that the situation in Gaza is the result of decades of Israeli violence and that the Palestinian struggle cannot be separated from a long history of imperialism, colonialism, and exploitation.
“These are not human actions, but acts of beasts. Everything—land, water, homes, families, children—is taken. This is aggression,” he said.
He further emphasized that Palestine’s plight is a test for Muslims and peace advocates worldwide, and that pressure on Israel must continue to stop its violence against Palestinians.
