Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has alleged that claims linking him to a RM500,000 payment involving NexG are defamatory, stating that the accusations are based on false narratives and fabricated connections.
The Pandan Member of Parliament said the issue was raised during a meeting with Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on 2 December, where he was shown an invoice allegedly tied to the company NexG.
According to Rafizi, he questioned the validity of the claim and insisted that he had never received any such payment, adding that the existence of an invoice does not amount to proof of bribery.
“Who gives a bribe with an invoice? That doesn’t make sense,” he was quoted as saying in a social media post, while stressing that the alleged RM500,000 payment originated from unrelated individuals and companies he claimed he had never met.
He further said that the timeline of the allegations was inconsistent, pointing out that claims linking the funds to PKR’s 2025 party elections did not align with events in 2023 when the alleged transaction supposedly occurred.
Rafizi also dismissed claims that individuals named in the reports were close associates of his, insisting he had no prior knowledge or contact with them.
He urged authorities to investigate all parties allegedly involved in the matter, including individuals and companies mentioned in the reports, saying the narrative appeared to be politically motivated.
In response to queries, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail declined to provide further comment on the matter.
Rafizi added that he would address the issue in detail during his upcoming podcast episode, while also cautioning his party members against engaging in what he described as excessive political slander.
