The Economic Affairs Minister and Pandan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, has announced his intention to publicly identify the individual known as ‘Mr R’ today. This figure was recently implicated by businessman Victor Chin as a central middleman operating within a purported corporate mafia network. Rafizi noted that while he possesses the necessary information to name the individual immediately based on Chin’s disclosures, a more pressing concern involves the allegation that RM9.5 million was paid to a PKR lawmaker.
According to the PKR Deputy President, the lack of public access to a detailed 40-page document submitted by Chin has led to significant confusion regarding the roles of those involved. He clarified that many observers have mistakenly conflated ‘Mr R’ with the unnamed PKR Member of Parliament who is accused of receiving the multi-million ringgit bribe. Rafizi stressed that the documentation actually provides a comprehensive chronology of the dispute surrounding NexG Bhd (NexG), identifying the key players and outlining how enforcement agencies were allegedly manipulated by a corporate mafia to seize control of the company.
In a video shared on his Instagram account this evening, Rafizi acknowledged the heightened national curiosity regarding the identity of ‘Mr R’. He quipped about the current trend of political ‘scams’, suggesting he might join in by teasing content rather than money, before confirming the big reveal is set for tomorrow. The Minister explained that the brief delay in disclosing the name was due to him still being in the festive spirit of the Raya holidays, requiring a short personal break before returning to the matter.
The controversy escalated yesterday when Victor Chin, who is currently under investigation for suspected links to corporate mafia activities, issued an ultimatum to an anonymous PKR Member of Parliament. Chin demanded the full return of his funds by 30 March 2026, alleging that the lawmaker failed to resolve his ongoing legal issues as promised. In his extensive statement, Chin claimed that the MP requested RM10 million in cash during October 2025, asserting they had the influence to settle the businessman’s legal entanglements.
Chin further alleged that he has already disbursed RM9.5 million of the requested amount and is now seeking a total refund because the promised intervention did not materialise. He also detailed the involvement of ‘Mr R’, who allegedly collaborated with the corporate mafia group to facilitate the takeover of NexG. Rafizi predicted that this political drama would conclude in one of two ways: either the MP’s identity will be exposed on 30 March, or the case will quietly disappear from the public eye.
Should the matter be dropped, Rafizi suggested it would indicate that the MP has successfully returned the RM9.5 million to Chin, allowing the businessman to settle debts with various moneylenders. He pointed out that Chin had reportedly borrowed the massive sum from ‘ah longs’ to fulfill the payment to the lawmaker. The Pandan MP concluded by questioning who would have the financial capacity to raise such a substantial amount within a five-day window, urging the public to wait for the next development.
