Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will continue its major sports broadcasting run after being appointed the official broadcaster for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Scotland from 23 July to 2 August.
The national broadcaster will provide live coverage of Malaysia’s athletes through its Sukan+ channel on MYTV Channel 111, RTMKlik, RTM’s official social media platforms, as well as Astro Channel 806.
RTM will deliver comprehensive coverage of the Games, beginning with the Opening Ceremony and ending with the Closing Ceremony. The broadcaster will also air two daily live sessions, each lasting three hours, along with a one-hour daily highlights programme.
In total, RTM is expected to broadcast nearly 100 hours of Commonwealth Games content, allowing Malaysians to follow the country’s campaign throughout the multi-sport event.
The two daily live broadcasts will run from 24 July to 2 August, with the first session airing from 6pm to 9pm. A second late-night session will be broadcast from 1am to 4am between 25 July and 2 August. Daily highlights will air from 25 July to 3 August, from 2pm to 3pm.
The Opening Ceremony Grandstand programme, scheduled for 24 July from 2.30am to 5.30am, will be hosted by Zachki Ahmad Suri, Nik Syafiq Hadhari, and Nazrie Fahmie, who will provide live commentary and analysis throughout the ceremony.
Meanwhile, the Closing Ceremony Grandstand, which will take place on 3 August from 2.30am to 5.30am, will be hosted by Jeed Zulkefli, Ninie Ibrahim, and Iffah Hazim.
RTM said it aims to build on the positive reception received for its FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage by delivering another high-quality viewing experience for the Commonwealth Games.
Malaysia’s contingent will be led by Chef de Mission Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz, with a squad of 59 athletes, comprising 37 able-bodied athletes and 22 para-athletes.
The national team will compete in 64 events across eight of the 10 sports featured at the Games, including weightlifting, swimming, track cycling, 3×3 basketball, artistic gymnastics, judo, lawn bowls, and athletics.
Malaysia is targeting a haul of five gold medals, two silver medals, and four bronze medals, based on the athletes’ current form and medal prospects heading into the Games.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games coverage marks another milestone in RTM’s commitment to delivering quality sports content to Malaysians, following more than a month of broadcasting the FIFA World Cup 2026.
