Teachers will receive a salary increase under Phase 2 of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), with the revised pay to be credited this Thursday, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said.
She explained that the second phase includes a 15 per cent salary increase for employees in the support and management-professional groups, as well as a seven per cent raise for those in the Top Management Group.
“Teachers will start enjoying the salary hike this Thursday,” she said during an interview on Media Prima’s Hot FM radio station.
The salary adjustment will be calculated based on salaries as of Dec 31 last year. Fadhlina also noted that 80 per cent of the Education Ministry’s budget is allocated to staff salaries.
In May 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a pay increase of more than 13 per cent for civil servants under Phase 1 of the SSPA, which took effect in December 2024.
