The Terengganu state government has announced a special financial aid (Bantuan Khas Kewangan, BKK) of RM500 for more than 14,000 state civil servants in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.
Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the Menteri Besar of Terengganu, said the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on public servants as they prepare for the festive season. He added that the assistance also serves as a token of appreciation for the dedication and commitment shown by civil servants in carrying out their responsibilities.
“This special aid has been disbursed today (Thursday) and is expected to benefit all state civil servants in their Aidilfitri preparations,” he said.
Ahmad Samsuri made the announcement after attending the Majlis Apresiasi dan Iftar Perdana Persatuan Mahasiswa Anak Terengganu Kebangsaan (Permata), organised by the Yayasan Terengganu. Also present at the event was its director, Ahmad Farhan Abdul Wahab.
In the same context, he also commented on the recent statement by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister, regarding the decision not to hold an Aidilfitri open house using public funds this year.
Ahmad Samsuri expressed support for the move, confirming that the state will follow suit. “What the Prime Minister meant relates to using public funds for Hari Raya celebrations. If it is organised as a potluck, there is no issue. Nonetheless, I welcome the Prime Minister’s recommendation, and at the state level, we have also decided not to hold the Menteri Besar’s Open House this year,” he said.
