UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has urged the public to remain fair and reasonable when criticizing the recent RXZ motorcycle gathering, stressing that the irresponsible actions of a few riders should not tarnish the reputation of the entire event.
He acknowledged that participants who violate traffic laws—such as running red lights or riding against traffic—deserve criticism, as such behaviour endangers their own lives and those of other road users.
“I agree that those who break road rules should be reprimanded because it involves the safety of riders and other road users,” he said in a statement.
However, Akmal emphasized that it is unfair to judge the entire gathering as negative based on the actions of a few individuals.
“To claim that the RXZ gathering is entirely a bad event is something I do not agree with. Out of tens of thousands of attendees, how many actually broke the law? I believe the vast majority rode responsibly and with discipline,” he added.
DAP Melaka had previously expressed objections to events that encourage or permit illegal behaviour. Party chairman Khoo Poay Tiong said the “RXZ Members Ride” program caused significant disruption to residents’ daily routines, public order, and road safety.
Meanwhile, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh highlighted the success of the “RXZ Members Ride Edition Melaka 3.0 2025,” which drew over 70,000 visitors to the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh over two days starting last Friday.
He noted that the event strengthened Melaka’s position as a premier motorsport tourism destination while contributing to the state’s economic growth and public welfare.
Akmal also highlighted the economic benefits generated by the event, including increased hotel bookings, higher income for small businesses, and opportunities for motorcycle enthusiasts to celebrate their passion.
“In a year of 365 days, we only dedicate two days for friends who love the world of motorsports to gather and be celebrated,” he said, comparing it to festive seasons, where society generally tolerates certain disruptions, such as firecrackers during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, or Chinese New Year, as long as they do not harm others.
