US–Israel Airstrikes Reportedly Target Ahvaz Airport In Southwest Iran

A series of airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel has reportedly targeted Ahvaz International Airport in Iran’s Khuzestan province, in the country’s southwest, according to Anadolu Ajansi citing the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Sunday.

No casualties have been reported following the attack, which comes amid escalating tensions in the region.

Khuzestan’s deputy governor was quoted as saying that several other locations across the province had also been struck in recent days, although details on injuries or damage were not disclosed.

The latest strikes are said to be part of a wider escalation of hostilities that intensified after the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on 28 February, an operation that reportedly resulted in more than 1,340 deaths, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has carried out retaliatory drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military assets, further heightening regional instability.
