Lee Zii Jia’s encouraging run at the Thailand Masters continued on Thursday as he advanced to the quarter-finals.
The former world No. 2, currently ranked No. 79, staged an impressive comeback to defeat India’s world No. 60 Mithun Manjunath 11-21, 21-16, 21-12, securing his first World Tour quarter-final appearance in 10 months.
Zii Jia last reached the last eight at the Orleans Masters in March last year, making this result a significant milestone in his return to form.
He faces a tough challenge on Friday, with in-form Indonesian Alwi Farhan — the reigning Indonesia Masters champion — standing between him and a place in the semi-finals.
