World No. 4 pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani advanced to the Australian Open quarter-finals on Thursday, keeping their bid for back-to-back semi-final appearances alive.
The Malaysian duo, who reached the semi-finals at last week’s Kumamoto Masters, fought past Taiwan’s world No. 22 team Liu Kuang Heng and Yang Po Han with scores of 21-23, 21-17, 21-10 at Sydney Olympic Park.
The win extended Goh and Nur’s head-to-head record against the Taiwanese pair to a perfect 3-0.
They now await the winners of another quarter-final match, with the potential for an all-Malaysian semi-final if Wan Arif Junaidi and Yap Roy King defeat the Malaysian-Korean pairing of Goh V Shem and Choi Sol Gyu.
