Meta’s Threads Gets “Ghost Posts”: Share Thoughts That Vanish in 24 Hours!

Date:

Meta has introduced a new feature called “ghost posts” on its Threads app, allowing posts to automatically archive 24 hours after being uploaded, mimicking popular features on Meta’s other platforms.

According to Reuters, the feature aims to boost engagement and give users more flexible options for sharing on Threads, similar to the “Stories” feature widely used on Instagram and Facebook.

Any reactions to ghost posts—likes or comments—are sent directly to the user’s inbox, and other users cannot see who interacted with the post.

Meta says the feature lets users “share their most immediate and authentic thoughts without the pressure of permanence or polish.”

To create a ghost post, users simply toggle the ghost icon when posting. These posts appear in the feed with a gray dashed speech bubble to distinguish them from regular posts.

Threads officially launched in 2023 and is considered a competitor to Elon Musk’s X platform. As of August, the app had reached 400 million active users.
