Nintendo has issued an urgent warning to owners of the new Nintendo Switch 2 about overheating risks. Since its release in June, gamers have been enjoying the latest console, but Nintendo’s official Twitter account has cautioned users to avoid using the device in temperatures above 35°C (95°F).
The company explained that operating the Switch 2 in high-temperature environments can cause the device’s temperature to rise, potentially leading to malfunctions. Nintendo recommends keeping the console in environments between 5°C and 35°C (41°F to 95°F), especially warning against outdoor use during hot days.
Many fans reacted online, expressing frustration. One user complained about the narrow temperature range, joking that Switch 2 could only be comfortably used during spring and fall in Europe. Another demanded Nintendo improve the docking station’s cooling system, asking for an official cradle designed to better dissipate heat. Others shared their own experiences of the Switch 2 getting very hot during docked gameplay, with some having to use extra fans to keep it cool.
Reddit users echoed similar concerns, with many noticing the console runs hot but reassuring that widespread crashes have yet to be reported. Nintendo encourages anyone experiencing overheating issues to contact their support or retailer.
The overheating warnings highlight ongoing challenges in balancing sleek device design with effective heat management in powerful gaming consoles.
