Perodua has unveiled an innovative solution for electric vehicle (EV) owners: the P-Charge Mobile, a portable charging station designed to act like a “power bank” for its latest homegrown EV, the QV-E.
Launched at Menara MITI, the P-Charge Mobile impressed attendees with its futuristic design and digital “eyes” that give the charging unit an almost sentient presence. The sleek white-and-grey pod measures 1.15 metres wide, 2.22 metres long, and 1.53 metres tall, and is remotely operated via a handheld controller.
Based on a China-developed model from Gotion High-tech Co Ltd, the unit has been fully redesigned by Perodua, including an English-language onboard system and customised exterior. Its rounded, pod-like design features a dark glass panel resembling a face, complete with glowing digital eyes and a headlight “mouth.”
Equipped with a 184-kWh battery pack, the P-Charge Mobile can deliver DC fast charging at up to 60 kW, enabling it to recharge up to three EVs from 0 to 100 per cent when fully charged. It has a maximum speed of 5 km/h and can operate remotely within a 5-metre radius, allowing it to serve in parking lots or high-traffic areas while deterring potential vandalism.
Perodua plans to deploy the units at strategic locations such as shopping malls, highway R&Rs, events, or anywhere EV chargers are scarce. Through the P-Circle superapp, users can locate available units and complete payments seamlessly.
Perodua describes the P-Charge Mobile as “revenue ready, built for businesses to scale EV infrastructure,” offering a flexible, on-the-go charging solution to complement existing public EV charging networks. However, the unit’s practicality for full autonomy and transportation efficiency remains under evaluation.
