TikTok Now Lets Songwriters Get Their Own Spotlight

Date:

TikTok is giving songwriters a spotlight of their own with a new feature that lets them showcase tracks they’ve written or co-written directly on their profiles. These songs will appear under a dedicated “Music” tab—similar to what artists already have—while songwriters will also receive a special “Songwriter” label beneath their username.

The update builds on TikTok’s growing suite of tools for music creators. It follows earlier additions like the “New” tag for recently released music, the ability to save tracks to streaming services, and the “BehindTheSong” hub launched in 2023, where artists, producers, and writers share behind-the-scenes stories. TikTok also recently introduced its “Off the Record” series featuring stars like Shakira, Charli XCX, and Meghan Trainor.

As music continues to be one of the platform’s biggest engines—driving hits and viral fame—TikTok has also partnered with major names like Taylor Swift to launch custom music hubs. While its standalone music app came and went between 2023 and 2024, TikTok’s efforts to support the music ecosystem remain strong.

For now, the new songwriter features are in closed beta with select publishing partners, but writers can join a waitlist for early access.
