A 67-year-old woman sustained severe burns in a house fire along Jalan SS1/8 in Petaling Jaya early this morning.
According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the department received an emergency call at 6.09am and dispatched 15 personnel, a fire engine, and two rapid intervention motorcycles. Firefighters arrived at 6.18am and began extinguishing the flames.
The woman, who lived in the home with her 75-year-old husband, suffered burns on 67% of her body and was given CPR before being rushed to Sungai Buloh Hospital. Her husband escaped uninjured and is now under the care of relatives. Firefighters used a 200-foot hose reel and water supply from the Petaling Jaya and Penchala stations to control the blaze.
