The Johor Bahru South District Police issued six traffic summonses to school students during an Op Didik operation held at Taman Puteri Wangsa on Tuesday afternoon.
District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the one-and-a-half-hour operation, which began at 1 p.m., was launched following complaints from school discipline teachers about students loitering after class hours.
A total of nine officers from the Taman Pelangi Indah Police Station took part in the operation, during which 19 motorcycles were inspected, involving 29 students.
“Four summonses were issued for missing side mirrors, while two others were for motorcycles without registration numbers,” he said in a statement.
Raub explained that the operation was part of the Johor Bahru South District Police’s community initiative to raise road safety awareness among students.
“Besides the inspections, officers also gave advice and warnings to students to practice safe driving, wear helmets, and obey traffic laws,” he added.
He said the initiative aims to reduce road accidents involving students and instill civic awareness among youth.
“The Johor Bahru South Police will continue conducting preventive and educational programs regularly, especially around schools and areas frequented by students, to ensure public safety is always maintained,” Raub emphasized.
