The FBI has returned valuable items stolen from Keanu Reeves’ home during a 2023 jewelry heist, marking the conclusion of an international recovery effort.
In a press release on Nov. 18, the agency confirmed that the stolen property, including six high-value watches, was returned to the 61-year-old actor. Reeves expressed his gratitude with a handwritten note to the FBI, beginning, “It is with profound gratitude and appreciation that I am writing this letter,” and concluding, “Thank you so much for all your effort, dedication, professionalism and cross-border cooperation. My warmest regards, Keanu.”

Among the recovered items was an engraved Rolex Submariner valued at least $9,500, with the total value of the watches reaching $125,000, according to a Chilean police officer involved in the investigation. Chilean authorities confirmed they would hand over Reeves’ stolen property on July 29.
Reeves identified the watches as the same ones taken from his Los Angeles home in December 2023. CNN previously reported that the items surfaced in eastern Santiago in December 2024, leading to the arrest of one individual linked to the thefts, described as “violent robberies.”
“This case is a perfect example of the excellent international cooperation we enjoy with our Chilean counterparts and our local partners at Los Angeles Police Department,” said Akil Davis, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. Davis highlighted the agency’s ongoing work with local law enforcement and its Major Theft Task Force to combat organized theft affecting both celebrities and non-public figures.
The FBI described the perpetrators as “South American Theft Groups,” criminal organizations traveling from South America to the U.S. and other countries to commit theft. Investigations are ongoing into multiple crimes linked to these groups across several U.S. jurisdictions.
In August, Reeves met with FBI personnel and a Chilean PDI officer in New York to retrieve his recovered items. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell praised the collaboration between the Policía de Investigaciones de Chile, the FBI, and local detectives, calling it a strong example of how international partnerships are vital in pursuing organized criminal networks.
“The recovery of these stolen items sends a strong message that organized theft groups will be pursued wherever they operate,” McDonnell said, noting the importance of cross-border cooperation in bringing justice to victims.
