A California man who went on a profanity-laced rampage inside a hair salon after arriving late to his appointment has been sentenced to six years in prison.
August Marriott, 28, pleaded guilty to an assault charge, Fox 5 reported. The incident occurred at a Great Clips salon in Santee, near San Diego, on January 29, when Marriott, who was out on parole at the time, became enraged after staff told him he was late.
Cell phone footage of Marriott’s outburst went viral on social media, showing him overturning shelves, throwing shampoo bottles, and yelling obscenities. One employee sustained minor injuries during the attack.
Jessica Schirmer, a stylist at the salon, described the incident as frightening, saying she did not know if Marriott was carrying a weapon and that the outburst left staff fearing for their safety in future visits.
Marriott initially fled the scene but was arrested on February 4 in Chula Vista after receiving multiple anonymous tips. He later missed a court date in Florida and was re-arrested there.
Records show Marriott has also gone by the names Cooper Hill and Juan Martinez.
