A Los Angeles man born with an extremely rare condition known as diphallia, or penile duplication, has opened up about his unusual anatomy and the challenges it brought to his relationships.
The man, known as Tank, was born with two penises. According to information from the US National Institutes of Health, diphallia is extremely rare, with fewer than 1,000 male patients and children estimated to have the condition in the United States.
Tank said women he dated were often shocked when he first told them about his condition, with some only believing him after seeing it for themselves. He also said some partners became fascinated by his anatomy, with one even inviting him to make videos together.
However, Tank stressed that having two penises did not make intimacy easier. He said stimulation could cause both organs to respond, even when only one was being touched, making intimate encounters difficult and potentially uncomfortable for his partners.
Concerned that his condition could cause pain or discomfort, Tank eventually chose to undergo surgery to have one penis removed. He said the decision was not about rejecting his body, but rather about making everyday life and intimacy more manageable while considering his partner’s comfort.
Tank also claimed that his uncle has the same condition, leading him to wonder whether there could be a genetic link within his family. However, there is currently no further medical evidence presented to confirm that claim.
Diphallia remains one of the rarest congenital genital conditions. There have also been isolated reports of babies born with three penises, although such cases are exceptionally uncommon and require individual medical assessment to understand the anatomy and underlying cause.
