Firefighters Capture Giant Cobra That Entered Kampung Ketembar Home

Date:

A septuagenarian in Kampung Ketembar got a fright of her life when she discovered a nearly five-metre-long king cobra coiled inside her toilet one morning. She lives with her two grandchildren and immediately called her son for help, who in turn contacted the fire department.

Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said firefighters faced a challenging 30-minute effort to safely capture the massive reptile, which is believed to have entered through an uncovered bathroom pipe.

“The snake was quite aggressive and reared up to about one metre. With only a snare pole, our team had to carefully navigate the cramped toilet to capture it,” Zulkhairi told Berita Harian.

The king cobra was eventually captured and safely released into its natural habitat, far from residential areas.

Following the incident, Zulkhairi urged the public to exercise caution during unpredictable and damp weather, which can drive reptiles indoors. He also advised residents to maintain cleanliness around their homes to prevent attracting snakes and other pests.
