Gunfight In Selangor: Robbery Suspect Shot Dead By Police

Date:

A man believed to be involved in a series of robberies was shot dead during a gunfight with police along Batu 8, Jalan Banting–Dengkil, Selangor, on Monday night.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar said the shootout happened around 8.10pm when the Serious Crimes (D9) unit was carrying out an operation targeting robbery cases in the Banting, Dengkil and Sepang areas.

According to Kumar, the team—travelling in an unmarked police vehicle—spotted a suspicious silver Perodua Myvi driven by a lone male suspect.

“As officers moved in to intercept, the suspect suddenly opened fire from inside his car. Police returned fire until the threat was neutralised,” he said in a statement.

Medical personnel later confirmed the suspect had died at the scene. Initial checks showed he was a local man, although no identification documents were found.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a Colt .45 pistol, seven packets of a crystal-like substance suspected to be drugs, and three Kynoch .45-calibre bullets.

Kumar said investigations are ongoing and he is expected to brief the media on the case later this morning at the Sepang police headquarters.
