A Singaporean woman was left feeling “disgusted and outraged” after discovering that her porridge delivery had been repacked by the rider after it spilled.
Angela, who shared the incident in the Facebook group COMPLAINT SINGAPORE on Sunday (Nov 23), said the delivery rider messaged her at 12.15pm but only delivered the food seven minutes later. When she received the order, she noticed the plastic bag was “dripping and sticky” and the porridge appeared only “two-thirds full”. Believing it was a minor spillage caused by riding conditions, she decided not to report it and consumed less than half.
Later that day, she found a note left by a neighbour at the lift lobby. The neighbour wrote that they saw the rider open the order and attempt to pour spilled porridge from the bag back into the container. The note had the wrong date (Nov 30), but Angela clarified the incident took place on Nov 22. She also attached video evidence showing the rider repacking the food.
Upon learning the truth, Angela said she felt “absolutely sick” but was relieved she did not finish the meal. “Thankfully it’s been hours and my stomach is okay. I order food every other day and now I swear I’m gonna have PTSD from this,” she wrote.
Angela has since contacted the delivery platform and is awaiting a response. In a statement to MS News, the platform apologised and confirmed that the rider has been temporarily suspended pending investigation.
Social media users reacted strongly to the incident, criticising the rider’s lack of hygiene. Some commented that it reaffirmed their decision to avoid food delivery services altogether.
