A man confronted a couple at a shopping mall after they allegedly left their two young children unsupervised at a play area for nearly two hours, sparking widespread public criticism following the incident’s circulation on social media.
In a viral video posted on Instagram, the man reprimanded the parents for their alleged negligence, saying the counter staff were not responsible for supervising the children. He claimed one of the children had wandered off twice and that he had personally stepped in to keep the child safe.
“Can you leave your children like that? For how long? The counter staff can’t look after your kids. Do you understand? Your child almost went missing—they’ve wandered off twice,” he said. He added that he had bought the child a drink while watching over them.
He further questioned the duration of the parents’ absence, stating he intended to review CCTV footage for confirmation.
The couple denied leaving their children unattended for two hours, claiming they had only gone to eat. “I told the counter staff. What’s the problem? Sorry, sorry. It wasn’t two hours. I just went to eat,” the father said.
The video triggered a wave of backlash online, with many social media users condemning the parents’ actions.
“I’m so satisfied hearing this guy scold the parents,” said Instagram user Mama Maryam Inara.
“Ridiculous response: ‘It wasn’t two hours, just went to eat.’ You left your children to eat? Didn’t your children eat?” commented user Unohana Anajota.
Another user wrote, “Does he think the staff at the counter are babysitters? Some parents shouldn’t even be parents.”
The incident has reignited discussions on parental responsibility and child safety in public spaces.
