Tropical Storm Senyar Triggers Minor Landslide, Injures One in Negeri Sembilan

Date:

Tropical Storm Senyar made landfall in Negeri Sembilan early this morning, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall that caused fallen trees and a minor landslide in Seremban.

According to the state fire and rescue department, six residents from two homes in Taman Bukit Berlian were relocated after the landslide affected their properties. The incident occurred at around 3.50am, roughly three hours after the storm reached the coast.

Authorities said the evacuation was carried out over concerns of additional landslides, with the surrounding area now under tight monitoring.

In a separate incident, a 61-year-old motorcyclist was injured when a tree collapsed onto him near the Aeon shopping mall in Seremban 2. He was immediately brought to Hospital Tuanku Jaafar for treatment.

Over in Port Dickson, a fallen tree near a hotel in Batu 1 damaged a Proton Saga at approximately 3.10am, though no injuries were reported.

Earlier today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department downgraded Tropical Storm Senyar to a low-pressure system after it weakened upon entering Peninsular Malaysia. The weather system initially made landfall near the coasts of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan around midnight and is now situated in the central region of the peninsula.

Despite the downgrade, parts of West Malaysia are expected to continue experiencing strong winds, heavy rainfall and choppy seas, with active rain cloud formation still ongoing.
