Khairy Jamaluddin has suggested that a solo victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Johor state election could serve as a turning point for the coalition’s revival at the national level.
The former UMNO Youth chief said that a single-party administration would allow faster decision-making compared to coalition governments that require consensus among multiple political partners.
He added that BN’s ability to govern independently in Johor could strengthen confidence in its leadership model and potentially inspire similar strategies in other states.
Khairy made the remarks while speaking at a campaign ceramah in Taman Kota Jaya, where he was supporting BN candidate Dr Naqib Ghazali in the Panti state seat.
He said BN’s governance in Johor demonstrates efficiency, claiming that decision-making is smoother without the need to consult coalition partners such as Pakatan Harapan component parties.
According to him, coalition arrangements often slow down administrative processes due to differing views among political allies, even though cooperation is sometimes necessary at the national level.
Khairy also suggested that if BN manages to secure solo victories in Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, it could create a “blue wave” momentum ahead of the next general election.
He added that such outcomes could help BN regain national leadership, stressing the importance of a strong and stable government model similar to Johor’s administration.
The comments come amid ongoing political campaigning in Johor, where multiple coalitions are contesting tightly fought state seats.
